On Being November

A friend asked the other day how I was doing.  I think it went something like, “How are you doing?  You don’t seem OK….”

Well, never mind the weird health stuff going on or the series of stressful “raising teenagers” episodes or the less-than-thrilling anniversaries of not-so-joyful events past… I just had no way of summing it all up, so I just said, “It’s November.”

That was enough.  It was understood.

My brain started to whirr and whirl as it is wont to do, and I realized that the problem isn’t so much that IT IS NOVEMBER, as much as I HAVE BECOME NOVEMBER.

I don’t know how to fix that.  Or if I want to.
