Reads, Feeds and Other Fun Stuff
For those who caught those last two deleted posts, I’m having the same Google Reader issues as always, but it always is a pick at the scab when someone mentions, “Hey, your feed doesn’t show up on Google Reader anymore, wassup with that?” I did fix the “auto find” for the RSS, but I’m still not sure the feed will properly update in Google Reader. However, after perusing the forums at Expression Engine, I did find that removing the end forward slash ( / ) from the URL of the feed seemed to help somewhat, at least temporarily, so I’ve changed the links to my feeds (see the sidebar) as well as the auto-find RSS address so that (hopefully? maybe?) the dumb thing will update properly from now on. I make no guarantees, but the last test posting did in fact update (several hours later, but still within the same day) on Google Reader. We’ll see, I guess.
The only reason any of this is really important is because I have been, er, challenged to start writing more. I willingly offered to do a “30 Days” challenge for May (I think I’ve done it before, actually) but that wasn’t good enough, oh no. Andrea wanted me to start writing now, so I agreed to twice a week but she pressed for three times a week. I’m going to count my last two test posts (which got deleted) in order to make this #3 for the week. Ha. Okay, I may not make three times a week, but I’ll see if I can dig deep and at least get some regular (if boring) updates up. I miss some of the mundane, truthfully, just so I could use my “On This Day” feature to see what was up from year to year and how different (or similar) things were.
Meanwhile, if you want something interesting to read, head over to Paper Screams. The last two entries were stunning. I wish I could paint such vivid pictures for my children about what it’s been like to be, about some of the experiences that have shaped me and comforted me and kept me away from them and brought me closer to them. I mean. I write here. But it’s nothing that I could or would share with them. No, the writings here are definitely not for them and I’m not sure I could write to/for them the way Pooka has for his kids.
If that’s a lil heavy for ya, try this one on for size. I think I picked that up from Violent Acres (don’t forget her birthday fundraiser, ya’ll), though I’m not positive at this moment. (By the way, don’t read her lazy ass, she hasn’t updated in five days. Yeesh. Bait everyone with the fundraiser then bail ship. LAME.
And other fun stuff? Hm. Well, I went on a date last night. Yeah, I know, shocking. We did the whole typical dinner thing, but after we went and caused trouble at the grocery store like we did when we were dumb and obnoxious teenagers. I’m not sure if you’re supposed to just gain respect and common sense enough not to do that or if you’re supposed to outgrow the fun, but I tell ya it was as much fun as when we were 19. For the record, we didn’t do anything illegal or destructive or damaging, we were just obnoxious. We may have caused supermarket employees more work than they would have had otherwise, but not by much and it may (or may not) have been as amusing to the workers.
I’d say more, but you know, I’m sure I’d just get reported or something ridiculous.
Okay, I’m out. Busy day ahead of me. I hope you all enjoy the Scary story.
In Other Years:
I was lazy and didn't write anything.

“Court of Honor”
Getting suspended from school for fighting doesn’t invalidate Boy Scout awards/accomplishments? You’d think (well, I would) that conduct like that would weigh in.

Gracias for the idea. From now on when I absolutely feel like going, “Ha Ha.” instead I’ll do a fake sneeze (you know, like the one when you want to say “Bullshit?"), but instead of “Bullshit” I’ll say “Nelson?”
