Oddness and Updates
Does anyone have any idea why Google Reader would suddenly block my new posts from their reader? Everything through May is fine, but once June hit, my posts stopped showing up. They still show up fine in Bloglines. They’re still clearly there in the actual feed. What’s going on and how do I fix it?
Honestly, in the grand scheme of things, it probably doesn’t matter except that I know when I stop getting feeds, I stop reading blogs. I wasn’t getting feeds from SoLost for awhile, but when I re-added her, everything was fine. Who knows how many weeks (eek… months?) of posts I missed out on. Does that change who I am or whether or not I’ll live? No. But I like reading certain blogs and it disgruntles me when I miss out.
There were also odd issues with notifications being sent. For example, if a new member registered or if a new comment was posted, I never received any kind of notification. Very weird. Very frustrating. I tweaked some settings. That didn’t resolve it. I changed the email address from which things were being sent. No go. I changed the address TO which things were being sent. Nada. Fuss, fuss, fuss, finally, for reasons I can’t pinpoint, things started working again, though not precisely as I would have liked them to. I’ll deal. Working is better than not working.
There are good oddness things in the works, though I’ve only halfheartedly started working on them. For one, there’s a new little sidebar item. I may or may not keep it. Part of the reason I enjoy reading SoLost is because she’s always got new TOYS. Gadgets and wizwangs, beebops and whowhatsits galore. This one keeps track of recent readers who uses MyBlogLog. It keeps track of other stats, too, though I think no more (or less) than Sitemeter, so eh, whatever. It was just something new so I figured I’d give it a try.
As motivation for signing up on my blog, I actually have it set now so that the avatar you set in your profile (click your name if you’re logged in, it’ll take you there and you can set it) will show up when you comment. Spiffy, huh? I’m still tweaking the layout for comments so that it’ll look nice, and it’ll likely constrain avatars to a certain size once I get situated, but it seemed like a niftycoolfun thing to add, right?
I guess I’m in the mood to tweak code and add gadgets, but not so much in the mood to write. I did write a little story for a friend, but it was a gift, so I can’t share it here. I wrote my little dealio for Zombie Day or whatever it was, but after the fact decided I hated it. It was too ho hum boring. Too ... whiny mom. Too. Me. I’m more in a cryptic, She Moves In Mysterious Ways kind of mood. We’ll see what happens with that.
